The Design Associate will be responsible for the creation of luxury accessories. The role calls for an understanding of craftsmanship, trends, and drive to experiment with new techniques, materials, and patterns.

Duties and Responsibilities

These responsibilities are meant as a guide for core job functions but are by no means exhaustive.

Concept and Trend

·      Lead innovation in accessories design

·      Ownership of product strategy for the brand

·      Follow trend, interpret, conceptualize and propose new designs

·      Develop products within brand vision and price parameters  

·      Create detailed sketches

·      Identify and suggest improvements to existing products

·      Research new craft techniques

·      Research and set direction for material selection

·      Interpret client requests to create new products for private label and corporate merchandising

·      Create design proposals and briefs based on client requirements

Tools, Sourcing and Technical Design

·      Create technical packages of detailed sketches and measurements

·      Manage and own product lifecycle from sketch to production

·      Lead and establish initial sourcing of materials

·      Partner with production to introduce and fine tune craft techniques

Qualifications

·      Degree or equivalent qualification in Product or Fashion Design

·      Prior experience in leather goods craftmanship, specifically pattern making and product construction

·      An excellent understanding of materials and fabrication techniques used within luxury and/or premium product manufacturing

·      Strong CAD skills

·      Fluent in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Excel, and PowerPoint

·      You are excited about creating new products and possess strong presentation skills

·      You are commercially aware of brands in the sector, detail and results-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills

·      Passionate about design and fashion, you can identify emerging trends and interpret them for commercial product ranges

·      Demonstrate a positive, entrepreneurial attitude, high energy, and an eagerness to learn

·      Ability to perform roles with a high degree of ownership and minimal supervision

·      You work well in teams and inspire those around you
